4 WEEK WORKSHOP: BEGINNING ENAMEL AND COLD CONNECTIONS
Beginners are welcome!
DATES: Sundays January 2020 on the 5, 12, 19, 26 – 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Join instructor Brenda Marhon for some excitig times learning the basics of enameled copper and cold connection type metalsmithing.
This workshop is limited to six students so sign up early to reserve your spot. Full payment for the 4 weeks will be due at the first class.
Class Fee payable to TBMSC – (4) 3-hour classes @ $4/hr
Makeup sessions to be arranged with the instructor.
The class will be structured as follows:
First Class – Enameling – Both torch and kiln firing will be covered including shop safety overview, considerations before starting on a piece, prepping the piece, doming, drilling, the three stages of firing enamel. You will produce some completed enamel pieces to be used in the next classes, Cold Connections.
Second Class – Preparing the setting for your enamel piece, smoothing with files, stamping, making wire rivets, setting rivets, also lashing using wire.
Third Class – Tabs, another cold connection method requiring sawing.
Fourth Class – Completing any unfinished projects.
